Tony Wagner's 7 Survival skills for the 21st Century

Mr. Tony Wagner has spent many hours interviewing professors and business leaders. As a result, he has identified 7 skills that he feels all young people should develop in order to be successful in life. YOU are the young people he is referring to! Based upon the number that you selected (which represents the skill # on the bulletin board) you and your partner are to: (1 post per pair)
1. Put your first names in the comment.
2. Explain in your own words what the skill means.
3. give an example of how you might further develop this skill by activities we are or will be doing in this class.
4. Bonus point Question: Describe an activity not already done or planned, that we can do that will develop this skill.

you need to be creative, think outside the box. do things differently then everyone else. Make yourself stand out.
Talk to new people. Trust yourself and what your doing. Think outside the box.
Develop your own fake company.Come up with the name of the company, what it makes/does. How you run it. etc..

You have to be able to adapt to changes because it happens so quickly and you have to be ready for them. To be more open to the different things that you do. Having a mix it up day in leadership class and have people sit next to different people.

people can think of different solutions for one problem.
you can give each person the same problem and listen to their ways of solving this problem, because its likely that each person will have a different solution that can work for one problem.
Students can be givin a probelm that requires a solution and they must individually come up with that solution on their own, and then we can see how each students thoughts differ.

  4. Survival Skill number 7
    Curiosity and Imagination
    Emmett Sweet And Sarah Kopinski

This skill means that imagination is key to successful career. With a sense of humor more people will see you as a good leader. For example if your more involved in the icebreakers you will obtain a better imagination.

    Survival Skill #6

    Accessing and Analyzing Information

“Access to information is of little use-and may even be dangerous- if we don’t know how to evaluate it.”

Survival Skill #6 is about that if you don’t know what your talking about its useless.

Survival Skill #2: Collaboration Across Networks & Leading by Influence

This means to lead by influence rather than authority. For example, people should be leaders rather than being followers because the person in charge is not always right. We can further develop this skill by doing group projects and correcting people if they are wrong or if they need help. We could also get into groups and write down answers seperately on pieces of papers based off of a certain topic. After this, they could discuss each one and pick which one might be the best.

A skill to us is something useful that people can do in their life that causes a positive impact on other peoples actions. You can learn this skill in this class by presenting and talking to other people. This skill could be needed for a job in the future. Presenting all of the projects can help to develop this skill.
