B. The most important part of the Basic Philosophy is ...the dress code is designed to allow for student comfort while maintaining an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the educational setting.
C. Example # 1... should be replaced with holes , rips , and frays should be alllowed . The main reason we recommend this change is ..because your allowed to wear shorts to school and you see more leg then when theres holes and rips in your jeans. (20/20)
D. Example # 1... should be replaced with..you can wear shorts as long as nothing inappropriate is showing. Use a diagram. 8 inches is acceptable The main reason we recommend this change is ...because you can’t find shorts in the stores we shop in that are finger tip length (20/20)
E. Example # 2... should be replaced with ...the strap size can be less than 2 inches but no spaghetti straps.. . The main reason we recommend this change is ...because no stores really sell tank tops with 2 inch straps. (20/20)

C. Example #1 Pants with rips, holes, and frays will not be allowed ... should be replaced with ....no rips, holes, or frays above the zipper line when you sit down will be allowed . The main reason we recommend this change is ...stores mostly sell jeans like this and if people can wear shorts they should be allowed to wear jeans with rips or holes. (20/20)
D. Example 5 wearing of hats or bandanas will not be allowed. ... should be replaced with hats and bandanas should be allowed to a state wear its not representing a gang and your face has to be visible. .... . The main reason we recommend this change is because there’s really no reason why we can’t wear them and if it’s not covering your face or representing a gang there’s really no problem ... (17/20)
E. Example 2 Straps on blouses or tops are to be at least two inches wide. ... should be replaced with straps should be thick enough to cover undergarments .... . The main reason we recommend this change is that two inches is ridiculous and it’s pretty much a t-shirt for girls. Tank tops aren’t made with straps that big. ... (20/20)
EXTRA CREDIT:
F. Example #1 Skirts, dresses, and shorts, must extend beyond the fingertips fully extended and/or reach mid-thigh. Should be replaced with should extend to the middle knuckle of the index finger. The main reason we recommended this change is shorts that extend to the fingertips are really hard to find and ugly. But skirts should remain at fingertip length because they are a little more “open”

B. We think that the two most important parts are to allow the dress code to be comfortable while maintaining an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for educational setting. Another important part is the obligation to enforce unique safety and health requirements. (20)
C. Rips in jeans. We think that jeans with rips should be allowed, but not allowed to have holes in inappropriate places. From 9 inches from the hip holes and rips will be allowed. 20
D. Hats and bandanas. We think that hats and bandanas should be allowed according to a teacher’s preference. Bandanas can’t be covering the face or placed for gang related activity. Hats can’t cover ones eyes. (20)
E. Game day outfits. We think that full uniforms should be worn if chosen too, with no equipment. Swimmers can wear there uniform in moderation, meaning it has to follow the rest of the dress code guidelines. (20)
extra credit:
Two inch tank tops. We don’t think that straps are distracting to the learning environment. As long as no undergarments are showing than it’s acceptable.
Hazardous jewelry. We think that if it’s not hazardous to the person wearing it or a person around them than it is acceptable. We think chains shouldn’t be allowed because they could be used to cause harm to other students or staff.
Short length. We think that there should be a limitation of length of shorts and skirts. As long as its not showing anything inappropriate or distracting to the learning environment, than it shall be allowed.

B. The most important part of the Basic Philosophy is protecting the value of the educational process. Without distractions and/or disruptions based on an individual’s apparel. Also, to instill good dress habits to enable students to succeed outside of the high school environment.
C. “The following dress code applies to both sexes, and will be enforced during the school day and at all school functions,” should be replaced with, “The following dress code applies to both sexes during school hours and at any educational event.” The main reason we recommend this change is because student should be able to have the opportunity to show their individuality in a non-educational environment. We believe this because it is not disrupting the educational process. (20/20)
D. “Cut off shorts and pants with rips, holes or frays will not be allowed,” should be replaced with, “Shorts or pants with any rips, holes, or frays will not be allowed above the finger tip length.” The main reason we recommend this change is because no obscene body parts are being revealed and that does not cause disruptions to the learning environment of any student or teacher. (20/20)
E. “On game days team members may wear authorized game/ contest uniform jersey only,” should be replaced with, “On game days team members may wear game/contest uniform jerseys and/or any part of the school issued uniform (excluding equipment) as long as it obeys the other dress code regulations.” The main reason we recommend this change is because student should be allowed to show their school appreciation and team spirit on game days. This also helps to support the School Spirit Pillar that encourages students to show pride and honor for our school. (20/20)

B. The Dress Code is in place in order to insure that no distractions are in a person's education and to allow a comfortable learning atmosphere. It is also in place so that students can have an equal opportunity to express style through clothing and accessories. (19/20)
C. #1. It should be replaced with allowing to wear skirts/shorts however they like as long as it is not showing any obscene body parts and/or when you are sitting/standing. Also holes (where you can see skin/undergarments) or should be allowed as long as they are 5 to 6 inches from the hip. Frays are allowed anywhere as long as it is not showing skin, and considered as being a hole. Reason being that it is hard to find shorts or skirts at fingertip length because students all have different body shapes. Also frays don't show any part of the body which is considered obscene.(20/20)
D. #2. Straps on tank tops/shirts shouldn't have a determined width. Reason being is because it is hard for youth to find proper attire with thick enogh straps as described in the current dress code.(18/20)
E. #8. It should be replaced by taking out the jerseys only policy and by being able to wear sports uniforms on any day of the school week. Also if our school is allowed to wear sports uniforms as inapporpriate as they are representing our school, then kids should be allowed to wear similar clothes to the uniforms. Reason being that everyone should have equal privliges, not just the sports students.(19/20)

B. The most important part of the Basic Philosophy is to ensure kids in class are not distracted, but can still express themselves through clothing. (xx/20)
C.Cut off shorts and ripped jeans are not alowed to be worn in school. This should be replaced by allowing Jeans that have rips, as long as they are not in inapropriate places. The main reason we recommend this change is because it is hard to find these items in places where teens shop and also because kids are not distracted by this display in class. (xx/20)
D.Hats and bandanas are not allowed to be warn in school. This rule should be replaced with alowing hats and bandanas as long as they are school related. The main reason we recommend this change is because this promotes school spirit and allows kids to wear something different. (xx/20)
E.On game days students are only allowed to wear jerseys ,and not the full uniform. This rule should be replaced by allowing students to wear their full uniform to school on game days. The main reason we recommend this change is because we are supporting our school, and promoting team spirit. This should be allowed to be warn in our school because it is warn in other schools,to represent Alden (xx/20)
extra credit: Electronic devices are not allowed to be used durring school hours. This rule should be taken out completely, because high school is preparing you for college, and in college you learn to prioritize, and if you want to learn you need to pay attention, therefore students should be alowed to make this decision on their own.

I think that the purpose of the dress code is to allow the students to express themselves while maintaining a focused learning enviroment.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most controversal issues that i think problems have arose under is ripped pants, frayed, holes ect. I feel that ripped pants and holes are not appropriate, they do not help create a learning enviroment and have the potential to make our school look less profesional. Frays on the other hand are simply a trend that students follow. It is hard to find pants without!
